Children's Picture Book, *I Chalk*, Supports In-School Gardening Program

Just realized one of my early children's books, I Chalk, is still available via Amazon and other on-demand distributors. I self-published this book years ago via CreateSpace (before it was bought by Amazon), because it was far cheaper than printing it myself. (Each page has a black printed background, which is very appealing to young eyes but also very expensive to print.) I never marketed it, just published it for personal use.

The book shows a different sidewalk chalk drawing for each month of the year and tells the (true) story of how a family used public art to alleviate a traffic problem in their neighborhood. I've since used it in pre-K and elementary school workshops in public schools, libraries, etc., and found it's appropriate for pre-K through 4th-grade, including beginning/challenged readers.

Purchase it with a container of sidewalk chalk for a unique birthday, Xmas or "just-because" gift. The Amazon price is $12, but I can ship signed copies for $10 a piece (including shipping) if you contact me at melissarooneywriting@gmail.com.

Any proceeds received this year will be used to fund the in-school garden club I conduct on a weekly basis at Title-1 EK Powe Elementary School in Durham, NC. We'd like to purchase mulch and stones for the areas we planted last year.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

Melissa (Rooney)
