Election 2020: On Being Asked to ‘Chip In’

Every political ad imploring me to ’chip in’ pisses me off - it doesn’t matter which candidate ‘approved this message’. What a horribly dysfunctional Capitalist country we live in. At the end of the day, they don’t need our money, they need our votes; any argument otherwise is undemocratic. But here’s the rub. When a campaign ad asks us to chip in, we don’t have to choose to see it in terms of money. We can knock on the door and ask our neighbor down the street whose name we do not know if they are going to vote and if they need a ride. They can sit in the back seat and we can roll all the car windows down. We can choose not to talk about politics at all. We can get the vote out and perhaps make a much-needed friend. ♥️ Are you brave enough?
