My Contribution to Poetry Month 2022

I nearly let poetry month get away this year, but I still have 4.5 hours before it ends. Below is my contribution :-) .

Perchance to Dream

.

Trying to concentrate on nothing,

To dissolve into the blackness behind my closed eyes,

I find that nothing is something --

Without image or sound or meaning.

.

I am enveloped in the emptiness,

Absorbed in the thought of thoughtlessness,

Where opposites collide

And inaction is a conscious effort.

.

Reaching into darkness for that lost part of me,

I am somehow lost in the reach.

.

Sleep invades my mind.

.

The light is dead.

And my soul sings

To the wordless accompaniment

Of forgotten memories.

.
